Marta Plana Drópez

Marta is a Strategic Advisor at Imperium Global Advisors, where she brings extensive international experience in business strategy, policy development, and emerging technologies. Her work focuses on helping clients navigate global markets and regulatory environments across sectors such as defense, cybersecurity, financial technology, and artificial intelligence. Marta’s expertise combines innovation and strategic vision with a deep understanding of how public policy, regulation, and technology intersect to shape business opportunities worldwide. 

Before joining Imperium, Marta built a distinguished career spanning academia, law, government, and executive leadership. She began her professional journey as a lecturer at the University of Barcelona’s Faculty of Law before practicing law at Baker McKenzie. After moving to the United States, she worked with Microsoft and later joined Osborne Clarke as head of the Investment and Tech area, advising numerous Silicon Valley start-ups. 

In 2011, Marta was appointed by the Government of Spain as Commissioner of the Telecommunications Market Commission (CMT), where she oversaw major regulatory developments in the digital and telecommunications sectors. She later co-founded Pagantis, a financial technology company based on artificial intelligence that now operates under the ClearPay brand. Between 2017 and 2019, she served as Vice President and Director of Regulation and Strategy at Cabify, and subsequently as Senior Advisor at KPMG Spain. 

Until 2021, Marta served as Director and General Secretary of Futbol Club Barcelona, where she also led innovation initiatives, including Bihub, a sports technology incubator leveraging AI to enhance athlete performance. Most recently, she served as International Strategy Consultant at Escribano Mechanical Engineers, a global leader in the aerospace, defense, and security sectors. 

Marta is a recognized voice in the digital policy and technology space, frequently appearing as a speaker for organizations such as Observatorio Retina (El País) and Digital Future Society, and contributing to media outlets including the Financial Times, Bloomberg TV, and Antena 3.
